In the honor of Women's History Month

Nafisa al-Bayda is one of the famous women in the history of egypt. She began her life as a slave and then she was married to man of power called Ali Bey. Afterwards, she was married again to the wealthy Murad Bey who became the leader of the resistance against Napoleon Bonaparte invasion.
Her name "al- Bayda" means the white one, as she was a beautiful woman, wealthy and known to be of a great education and culture.
She was the only female to have a monument, located in main street next to the famous Bab Zuweila, at Fatemic Cairo. She chose this location with care as it was the place where the yearly pilgrimages ceremonies to Mecca used to take place.
I think she was a special woman in her time, because back then women had no rights, no proper education, and no say in marriage, but he was intelligent, righteous and charitable, she was a symbol of woman's participation in political life as she played a major role in helping her husband during his resistance, she was an inermediate between him and napoleon because she used to speak french.
She also had a successful business life, she was one of the richest women back then because she took an active part in land investments and trades, and used to run her own commercial market.

My book of the week

Charlie and the chocolate factory

Charlie and the chocolate factory is one of my favorite books. I read it many times and I have never been bored from it.

It has many interesting characters but my favorite is Veruca Salt - a selfish, greedy rich girl, who decides she wants a goose (in the original movie and the book), and then falls down the garbage chute.

I also watched the movie Charlie and the chocolate factory, it was fun, and although it didn’t cover all the details in the book, I enjoyed it very much.

A Famous Artist

Leonardo di ser Piero da vinci

He was born in April15, 1452 in a small town of Vinice of Tuscany, Italy.

He was a great painter, architect, sclupter, engineer and an inventor.

He was educated in the studio of renowed Florentine painter.

One of his most celebrated portraits ever painted were the famous Mona Lisa which also known as La Giaconda, and the last supper. They both gave him great success and fame.

It’s surprising to know that although he produced small number of paintings, many of them were remained unfinished.

Five centuries have passed yet people still view Leonardo with admiration and respect.

Bactrian Camels

I just read the article about the bactrian camels.I think they are cute creatures.
The bactrian camels are mammels, they can live for 50 years and their babies called the mother "Baa".
The bactrian camels can travel for long distance and long time, they don't get hungry or thirsty and they don't sweat because they store food and water in their two humps.
The bactrian camels live in central and east Asia where the weather is too hot in summer and very cold in winter.
Both camels and humans can benefit from the camel fur.For the camels it helps to protect them against harsh weather, and for the humans, they use it to make cloths.
Not only fur protects the camels, also they close their nostril to avoid sand and their long eye lashes protect them from ice and sand.
There is another kind of camels called arabian camels, they have only one hump not two, and they have longer legs.

Holes Book

I think it's important to read the book before watching the movie. The book can give more details, but the movie do not, because the movie makers summerise the book for drama, and the movie time can't be more than 2 hours maximum. Also , if I watch the movie before reading the book, it will burn my imagination while reading the book.

Another great day @ school

Hey dear friends,
I had another great day at school today, I had the chance to share my tornado report with my class and 5b too.
thank you all for listening and a special thanks to my dearest friend Tala for working together in this diorama.
Please allow me to share this with you once more.
LETS CHASE TORNADOES
The weather is an important part of our daily lives and it affects us all. We may come to school wearing shorts and t-shirts because we heard in T.V weather forecast news that the weather will be good the next day.
Tornado is one of the weather crises that must be taken seriously. The tornado wind is the most violent wind that occurs in earth, it happens when a warm, humid air mass meets with a cool, dry air mass.
Fortunately, most of tornadoes are weak only few are strong and dangerous.
Tornadoes come in many shapes and sizes but usually they are in the form of a “funnel” where its narrow end touches the ground and its wide part forms the cloud of dust on top,
The most extreme tornado in history was “Tri-state tornado” which went through Missouri, Illinois and Indiana on March 18, 1925.It was the longest path length (219miles, 352km), the longest duration (3.5 hours), and the fastest speed (73MPH, 117km/h).

Sometimes tornadoes can be detected before they happen; the safest place to hide is the corner of an underground room. People should turn on a battery-powered radio and wait for the instructions.
WHAT IF WE WERE IN SCHOOL????
If a tornado happens, students should leave their class rooms, gym and auditorium and go to an interior room on the lowest floor, they also should stay away from glass both windows and doors and protect their heads with their arms, mattresses or even their jackets. They should listen to their teacher’s instruction.

Dangerous yet Colorful
Tornado has different colors depending on the place in which they are formed.
If it’s over a dry environment it will be invisible or colorless, if it’s over water it will be white or blue, it can be red if it happens in a mountain area, and it can be white if it happens over a snow covered ground.

My favorite day at school

My favorite day at school was the day of our group presentation about "Chinese New Year".As much as I  enjoyed that day, I also enjoyed working with my group of friends Tala, Nour and Hussien.
When Ms.Wave asked us to do this presentation, we decided to make it as a play presentation, we wanted to be as creative as we could.
The second day, we met at Tala's house after school and we started to get ready for this presentation. It was real fun, and we did a good job.
At the day of the presentation, we were the third group to present, we wore chinese customes and we put chop sticks in our hair.It was my first time to work with a group on a presentation, I thought it was going to be hard to do this and may be it will lead me to fights with my friends, but I discovered that if we all pitch in ideas and take each other opinions,it will end up to be a great sucsess.
