In the honor of Women's History Month

Nafisa al-Bayda is one of the famous women in the history of egypt. She began her life as a slave and then she was married to man of power called Ali Bey. Afterwards, she was married again to the wealthy Murad Bey who became the leader of the resistance against Napoleon Bonaparte invasion.
Her name "al- Bayda" means the white one, as she was a beautiful woman, wealthy and known to be of a great education and culture.
She was the only female to have a monument, located in main street next to the famous Bab Zuweila, at Fatemic Cairo. She chose this location with care as it was the place where the yearly pilgrimages ceremonies to Mecca used to take place.
I think she was a special woman in her time, because back then women had no rights, no proper education, and no say in marriage, but he was intelligent, righteous and charitable, she was a symbol of woman's participation in political life as she played a major role in helping her husband during his resistance, she was an inermediate between him and napoleon because she used to speak french.
She also had a successful business life, she was one of the richest women back then because she took an active part in land investments and trades, and used to run her own commercial market.
